Not many first-round selections get waived before their rookie contracts are up. But that’s how bad Breshad Perriman played in Baltimore.
But Perriman is exactly the type of underperforming high-draft pick the Cowboys love to take a chance on.
At some point, the Ravens believed Perriman had enough talent to justify selecting him 26th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Possessing NFL bloodlines (father is Brett Perriman), the 6-foot-2, 215-pound receiver posted 33 receptions for 499 yards and three touchdowns for Baltimore in 2016.
Yet, Perriman was certainly released for a reason. He has struggled with drops, catching just 10 of 34 targets last year. But the former first rounder is also only 24-years old. And a new environment could spark a career-revival.
Xavier Su’a-Filo, Offensive Guard
A former second-round pick, Xavier Su’a-Filo has a ton of NFL experience, starting in 41 games since 2014. That includes starting in 31 of the Houston Texans 32 games the past two seasons.
With All-Pro right guard Zack Martin coming off a knee injury and second-round rookie Connor Williams starting at left guard, Su’a-Filo could make for a nice insurance policy to stash on the roster in Dallas.
