Dallas Cowboys mid-preseason 53-man projected roster
By Tyrone Starr
DEFENSE (26)
Defensive line (10)
Demarcus Lawrence, Maliek Collins, Jihad Ward, Tyrone Crawford, Randy Gregory, Taco Charlton, Dorance Armstrong, Antwaun Woods, Datone Jones
This list does not include David Irving, as he serves his four-game suspension. It also does not include Charles Tapper as there is no way he can beat out Armstrong for the final end spot.

Linebackers (6)
Sean Lee, Jaylon Smith, Leighton Vander Esch, Damien Wilson, Joe Thomas, Justin March-Lillard
No real surprises here, unless you count keeping March-Lillard as one. I’m electing to keep him in order to bolster the special teams unit.
Cornerbacks (5)
Byron Jones, Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis, Anthony Brown, Duke Thomas
Two weeks ago, heading into camp, this was the unit I was most excited to see play. Now? I’m scared to play any of them besides Jones and Awuzie. Expect the Cowboys to make roster adjustments if the play continues to be sub-par.
Safeties (5)
Jeff Heath, Xavier Woods, Kavon Frazier, Tyree Robinson, Dominick Sanders
Sanders gets the 53rd spot over a seventh receiver for three reasons. Health at this position. Special teams contributions and likelihood of actually seeing playing time. That is, of course, until the Cowboys finally make the move for a certain safety that is currently holding out.
SPECIAL TEAMS (3)
Chris Jones – Punter, Dan Bailey – Kicker, L.P. Ladouceur – Long snapper
Same as always.
