Dallas Cowboys (bronze medal)

Jourdan Lewis, Byron Jones, Chidobe Awuzie, Anthony Brown, Kameron Kelly, Xavier Woods, Jeff Heath, Kavon Frazier

Did I want to put this group higher? Absolutely.

Alas, I’m not a homer and this seems accurate, at least heading into 2018.

The Dallas Cowboys defensive back group gets a slight nod over Washington, mainly because as a collective group, they are better. There is no Josh Norman, high profile, shut down guy here.

What there is, however, is talent, youth and a tenacious new defensive backs coach that will make this unit very good.

I think the foursome at cornerback of Lewis, Awuzie and Jones with Brown mixed in could be special on their own. Add Kris Richard, the orchestrator for Seattle’s “Legion of Boom” secondary to the mix and now you’re cooking with gas.

Yes, the group is missing a safety (for now) like Earl Thomas and clearly there is no enforcer like Kam Chancellor. Kavon Frazier can blow people up though. Xavier Woods showed promise in 2017 and then there is the perennially underrated and devalued Jeff Heath.

Since they are missing that “number one” type guy either at corner or safety, this is as good as it gets this year. Next year, however, could be a much different story.
