Dallas Cowboys: The draft alone can’t plug all these holes
By Brad Austin
REAL COWBOYS DON’T GET GUN-SHY
One draft will not provide four rookies talented enough to show up ready to start at guard, linebacker, safety, and swing tackle (who will surely see action).
That’s four immediate starter types needed, not even considering the back-up linebacker who will see rookie snaps, and a back-up swing guard/center.
Then there’s plenty of fans who will contend a talented new wide receiver and nose tackle are paramount needs for this off-season.
Those positions have quality returning starters, so they missed the ‘must-have’ list.
But if counted, that’s eight new players needed to add high quality snaps in 2018.
Of course. Dallas also must find a third string running back with Alfred Morris likely leaving and Darren McFadden retired.
That brings the total to nine new additions.
I’m assuming the Cowboys realize this laundry list of key holes is impossible to fill in one draft.
But how many gaps will they leave open to draft day wishful thinking?
