Dak Prescott: Rookie or Veteran? The Birth of a Savior and Star?

Well, leave it to Cowboys fourth rounder (135th pick overall) to outshine the big rookie quarterback names like Jared Goff, Paxton Lynch, and Carson Wentz — all three were selected in the first round.

Prescott’s play may have ruined the Rams welcome home party a little. He completed 10 of his 12 passes (the two incompletions were dropped) along with two very, very impressive touchdown throws that showed touch and grace of a confident quarterback.

His 154.5 quarterback rating is worthy of silencing veteran quarterback talk — for now. The kid is smart. He’s fun. He speaks well. The best part?

We haven’t seen all of what he can do. That’s the scary part. His tuck and run for 14 yards helped send kicker Dan Bailey in for a successful three pointer.

Prescott is a name on the roster sheet you circle over and over again. I can’t wait to see him play some more Friday. If the young gun shapes out to be a quality (read: reliable) backup quarterback behind starter Tony Romo, chalk this up as another major win for the franchise’s drafting methods.

Best of all, names like Nick Foles and Josh McCown can be written off.

Bottom line: Relieved.
