4.101: Kenyan Drake, RB

Like many fans right now, I’m hoping it’s Zeke Elliott’s name that’s called out by the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as the Cowboys make their pick. If that’s not to be, the team could still do with another running back to compete alongside Darren McFadden, Alfred Morris and Lance Dunbar.

Kenyan Drake is somewhat the forgotten man. At Alabama he played in the shadow of Heisman winner Derrick Henry albeit complementing his game along the way.

Predicted to be a 3rd-4th round pick by CBS, Drake has the all-round talent to come in and potentially beat out Lance Dunbar. Drake is an athletic back with good vision and feet, able to receive out of the backfield. The injuries he’s suffered in his college career will be under the microscope. A broken arm and leg to name but two.

4.135: Dak Prescott, QB

This year’s pool of quarterbacks has left me distinctly underwhelmed. Thankfully Dak Prescott was around to bring some degree of excitement. If you want a developmental prospect, then taking a punt on Prescott is the answer.

While CBS have him graded as a 4th-5th rounder, it’s more likely the Cowboys would have to spend their third round pick on him. The Cowboys staff have spent a lot of time with the player; from the Senior Bowl to private workouts and a trip to Valley Ranch. Maybe there could be a glimmer of hope thinking about life post Romo.
