2011: Baltimore Ravens – Jimmy Smith
The Ravens didn’t let off field concerns stop them from drafting Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith in 2011.
For his first two years he played predominantly as the third choice cornerback, but was pivotal in the teams Super Bowl win against the 49ers.
In 2013 he started in every game for the Ravens and finished the year with 51 tackles and 10 stops.
He only played half of last season after a foot injury in Week 8 placed him on the injured reserve list.
Ravens assistant general manager has hinted that they may look to add to their cornerbacks this draft as:
"“…they’re going to get injured and break down.”."
The Ravens are picking before the Cowboys tonight, and are a legitimate competitor for one of the defensive backs.
Trae Waynes, Marcus Peters, Kevin Johnson and Byron Jones all have consensus first round grades.
After the Steelers gazumped the Cowboys by taking their original pick of Ryan Shazier in 2014, could the same happen tonight?
