2010: New England Patriots – Devin McCourty
It was in 2010 that the Cowboys traded picks with the Patriots.
On reflection it’s safe to assume that neither team regret their decision.
Dallas took Dez Bryant, the enigma of the team who has progressed into one of the best receivers in the league.
The Patriots took Devin McCourty a reliable and consistent defensive back.
In his rookie year he played at both cornerback and defensive back where he was one of the league leaders in interceptions with 7.
He was named to the Pro Bowl and as an All Pro.
His impact on the team has never waned, and in his five years he’s had over 300 tackles and 17 interceptions.
If tonight the Cowboys can draft a defensive back with the longevity and productivity of McCourty, then we can be very very happy indeed.
