After a bit of a lackluster performance last week against the Baltimore Ravens, Weeden bounced back last night showing off his arm strength in the process. He finished the game throwing for 77 yards and a score on 5 of 9 passes. His 27-yard touchdown strike to wide out LaRon Byrd was a thing of beauty.
Still, no one is saying that Weeden fills the shoes of Kyle Orton, the Cowboys previous back-up who many considered the best non-starting quarterback in the NFL. But with Orton’s retirement/non-retirement departure in July, Weeden has stepped in admirably. And his recent play gives fans a small bit of hope that not all is lost if starter Tony Romo succumbs to injury this season.
