Dallas Cowboys Fans: Two Colts Players That Will Surprise You!

One of the great things about working at The Landry Hat, and the FanSided Sports Network, is our access to different experts and writers. Since our network has a site for every NFL team, I’d thought I’d get some insider information on the upcoming Dallas Cowboys vs. Indianapolis Colts game from behind enemy lines. Therefore, I present these five in-depth questions with the Editor of our Colts’ site, HorseshoeHeroes.com, Evan Reller.

1. Quarterback Andrew Luck has thrown four interceptions and lost two fumbles in the last three games. Does his play, as of late, concern you at all?

"ER: Andrew Luck has been a bit more mistake prone than usual lately and it is concerning. But at the same time, Luck drops back more often than any other QB in the league, and that leads to the perception of more turnovers. He’s throwing an interception on just 2.4-percent of his attempts. That said, Luck has to get the ball out of the pocket quicker and the protection has to be better. He’s still the most hit QB in the NFL and that’s the bigger issue."

2. What would you say are the Colts’ biggest strength and weakness as a team?

"ER: Luck is easily the team’s biggest strength (special teams and Pat McAfee are probably second). Its clear that he is on the cusp of being in the QB elite in the NFL and will likely lead the league in yards and touchdowns this season. The biggest weakness is a tougher answer. An argument could be made for the run game (when the team insists on using Trent Richardson), the offensive line, and the run defense. The defense has played very well against inferior teams and quarterbacks, but well coached or QB’d teams have picked them apart."

3. Name one unknown Colts’ player whose performance will surprise Cowboys’ fans on Sunday?

"ER:  My money would be on running back Dan Herron. He’s been the better runner lately and explodes through the line with a great burst. He’s also very elusive when he gets to the second level. When he’s on the field, the Colts offense becomes more dynamic. On defense, Vontae Davis is the best cornerback in the league that no one is talking about. He’s allowing catches on just 43-percent of passes thrown his way and quarterbacks have 35.5 passer rating when looking his direction."

4. Since your postseason is pretty much locked up, do you predict the Colts’ resting any of their players for the playoffs against Dallas?

"ER: Coach Chuck Pagano said they won’t rest players, but that anyone with a nagging injury might get the day off. The playoff seeding in the AFC is still very much alive and the Colts could still get a bye week with some help. They also have to be wary of the first round matchup and are hoping to face the Bengals or Ravens again in the playoffs. It is possible the Reggie Wayne could be out as he has issues with a partially torn tricep. That said, he’s played through it for most of the season and insists on playing if he can practice."

5. Your final score prediction for the Dallas Cowboys vs. Indianapolis Colts matchup and why?

"ER: I’m not keen on score predictions, but I don’t like this matchup for the Colts. If DeMarco Murray plays, I really don’t like the Colts chances. As I said before, the defense struggles against good quarterbacks which I believe Tony Romo qualifies as one. They’ve also been pretty bad against good tight ends.Couple that with the possibility of T.Y. Hilton being out and the Colts offense isn’t nearly as scary. I think the Colts will keep this one close, but the Cowboys (with more to play for) send them home with a loss."
