Tony Romo Booed In Pro Bowl

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Breaking News, Cowboys, NFL, News | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was booed when announced into the Pro Bowl tonight. He ended up completing his first six passes and led the NFC to a touchdown run by DeAngelo Williams. But on the next drive he threw a game-ending interception. The AFC won 41-34.
I didn’t quite expect the boos for Romo. The game was in South Florida and I’m not sure what the fans had against Romo.
The boos and the interception were quite an ending for Romo, who had one of his best seasons as a Cowboys starter. He is already the team’s leader in seasons throwing [...]

The Landry Hat Seeks Contributing Writer

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

I have been the chief writer for The Landry Hat for almost three years and find it to be a deep love of mine. I have the opportunity every day to write about the best football team in America and spark debate. In just two years I quickly became one of the more-popular Dallas Cowboys bloggers and have watched my traffic here explode by 5000 percent.
However, with the economy sinking like it did, real pressures hit all of us. I have been asked to do more with less in an industry that is struggling to survive. I have less time [...]

Cowboys May Use Marion Barber Less in 2010

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 14 Comments

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said earlier this week that Marion Barber’s injuries are a concern of his and that the team may have little choice but to use him less next season.
Barber, who has yet to have a 1,000-yard season with the Cowboys, could even be cut this year.
Can you imagine that? Tim MacMahon of the Dallas Morning News says it makes sense to cut Barber, who signed a $45-million deal before the season started.
The Cowboys would be foolish not to make Felix Jones the lead horse in 2010. [Tashard] Choice is more than capable of serving as a [...]

Who Were Those Dallas Cowboys?

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys, Draft, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, News | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

I really enjoyed the column by Mickey Spagnola today because of the important stats it had for the 12-6 Dallas Cowboys. It does make you wonder what team that was playing that Sunday in the 34-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
As Mickey points out, the Cowboys had the No.2 offense in the NFL and they closed the season with two shut outs. The very next game they played the Philadelphia Eagles for the second time in a row, only to bury them into the ground like skeletons. The Cowboys defense hadn’t given up 20 points in 10 games. The team [...]

Martellus Bennett Had Sophmore Slump; Mike Jenkins Did Not

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

Dallas Cowboys second-string tight end Martellus Bennett has what is called the Sophmore Slump. Mike Jenkins, a sophmore cornerback, did not.
At this time last year we all were thinking that Bennett was going to be a super star tight end and Jenkins was going to be a bust first round pick. Boy were we wrong.
Bennett had such a disappointing 2009 season that Jerry Jones remarked that he better get his act together.
Jones told the Dallas Morning News that Bennett can be a star in this league, while praising linebacker Anthony Spencer for having a break-out season:
“Spencer has been down to [...]

Wade Phillips Will Coach Dallas Cowboys To 2011

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones extended the contract of head coach Wade Phillips to 2011, adding an additional year to what was supposed to be a one-year extension.
Phillips coached the team to its first playoff win since 1996 and had a winning record in December for the first time since 1996. But the team’s exit from the playoffs was as ugly as it could be, a 34-3 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings.
Personally, I think the Dallas Cowboys have the talent now to win the Super Bowl and it is disappointing to see them lose so badly in [...]

What Do Dallas Cowboys Do With Roy Williams?

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 32 Comments

Roy Williams had zero catches in the Dallas Cowboys 34-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Although he had seven touchdowns, he had career lows in catches and yards. I am not sure anyone has been able to wrap their head around the baffling performance of Williams. He was thrown to just one time.
As I have said before, I reviewed many hours of game tape and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why Williams was not getting the ball. I didn’t see incredible route running, but another thing I spotted was that Romo never really looked for him out [...]

Vikings Run Up Score On Dallas Cowboys

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Breaking News, Cowboys | COMMENTS: 127 Comments

The Minnesota Vikings scored two late touchdowns on bombs, an almost obvious indication that they ran up the score on the Dallas Cowboys with a 34-3 win.
I am not sure what point Brad Childress was trying to make in running up the score, or maybe it was Brett Favre who decided to run the passing bomb to Sidney Rice for their third TD connection for the day. Favre three four touchdowns.
I personally do not care that the Vikings ran up the score. If the Cowboys defense wanted to quit, then they can quit.
It wasn’t going to be a good loss [...]

Cowboys Season Ends With Vikings 34-3 Blowout

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

The Dallas Cowboys season ended with a thump today with the Minnesota Vikings 34-3 blowout in the very loud Dome.
The Vikings defense overpowered the Cowboys and pressured Tony Romo all day. Romo had three turnovers in the game. After the first period the Cowboys never seemed to move the ball well. Either the offense would crash in Vikings territory or there would be a turnover.
Brett Favre and Sidney Rice connected for three touchdowns. The Cowboys defense was able to contain Adrian Peterson, but the passing game and turnovers were too much to overcome.
The Vikes ratcheted up the point in the [...]

Gerald Sensabaugh Gets Burned

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 16 Comments

What exactly what Gerald Sensabaugh doing on that play with Sydney Rice? The Minnesota Vikings just took a 7-0 lead over the Dallas Cowboys on a Brett Favre bomb to Rice.
Sensabaugh was there to defend the pass but it appeared he had no idea the ball was even thrown. Sensabaugh made no attempt to tackle Rice, either. He then realized that Rice actually caught the ball and easily scored a touchdown.
But the mistake was really on the part of Terence Newman, who didn’t even check Rice as he ran straight to the end zone.
The Cowboys are moving the ball well, [...]
