Cowboys Sign OLB DeMarcus Ware Through 2015
Written by theMBIIIeffect Nobody really noticed when Cowboys GM Jerry Jones was out on the field talking to outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware during yesterday’s warmups before yesterday’s game. A few folks caught the two walking into the locker room together yesterday, with the two grinning and acting chummy. In a press conference today, Jones and Ware announced exactly why the two were so happy. Before yesterday’s 37-21 win over the Falcons, Ware agreed to a 6-year/$78 million dollar contract extension. The deal, with about $40 million guaranteed, puts Ware up with the top money makers in the league. “He’s been [...]
ESPN is reporting here that the Dallas Cowboys and DeMarcus Ware are very close to agreeing on a contract extension. Ware was the NFL’s sack leader last year, with 20. Apparently a late afternoon press conference is anticipated today, according to a single source. The official Cowboys Web site is reporting that the Ware contract may be revealed today at a special news conference. The press conference begins at 4 p.m.
Dallas Cowboys Gain Respect In Win Over Atlanta Falcons
Respect. That is what the Dallas Cowboys gained by defeating the Atlanta Falcons last night. The game started off poorly, with the Falcons scoring a touchdown on their first drive that ate up more than half of the 1st quarter clock. At that point, and a few more poor offensive possessions from the Cowboys, it appeared as if the Cowboys were going to get beat bad. For the first time this season, the Falcons scored on their opening drive. But once the second quarter hit, the Cowboys took control of the game and never let it go. Miles Austin once [...]
Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons Discussion Thread
The Dallas Cowboys are set to face the Atlanta Falcons in just under an hour. Will Tony Romo and Miles Austin continue to put up big numbers? Will Marion Barber and Felix Jones be healthy again after the long bye week? Will Keith Brooking keep channeling his inner Brett Favre by running around and playing like a kid out there? We’ll discuss all that and more in today’s gameday discussion thread. I’ll be keeping up with the game and discussion in this discussion as well as on Twitter. You can follow me @cheedelt.
Move Over Patrick Crayton, It’s Miles Austin’s Turn
The Dallas Cowboys will bench wide receiver Patrick Crayton and let Miles Austin make his first start of the year Sunday when the Cowboys face the Atlanta Falcons. This is the first bold move the Cowboys coaching staff has taken so far this season. Austin is coming off a record 10 catch, 250 yard performance against the Kansas City Chiefs, a game the Cowboys barely won. Is the move premature? Probably not. I don’t see this making a big difference with the Cowboys game plan. There have been reports that Crayton has looked much slower this season compared with prior [...]
The Inevitable: Marion Barber, Tashard Choice or Felix Jones Won’t Be A Dallas Cowboy For Much Longer
The inevitable will happen. The Dallas Cowboys cannot field and afford three running backs, each who could probably start on at least half of the NFL teams. Tashard Choice and Felix Jones are two years into their careers, while Marion Barber is a NFL veteran.
When Do We Officially Call Roy Williams A Flop?
Is Roy Williams officially a flop? The Dallas Cowboys signed him to a five year deal with $45 million and he’s What is it with the Dallas Cowboys and the trouble with picking up, finding or drafting good receivers ever since Michael Irvin left the game? Williams barely has double digit catches and he has caught just one touchdown pass so far this year. He is not battling an injury, like he did last season. Instead of waiting on Anquan Boldin, the Cowboys rushed last year to get what we all thought could be a prime-time receiver along side Terrell [...]
Top 10 Things Cowboys Fans Can Do During the Bye Week
Written by theMBIIIeffect This Sunday will be a boring day for Cowboys fans. Sure, we’ll get to see the New York Giants pick up their first loss against the New Orleans Saints, the Washington Redskins give the Kansas City Chiefs their first win and the Eagles lose to the Raiders. Ok, the Raiders over the Eagles is wishful thinking. But an idle Cowboys mind is Al Davis’ playground this weekend, so we can hope. With that being said, here are the top 10 things Cowboys fans can do to ease the boredom on Sunday. 10. Go watch old Eli Manning [...]
Martellus Bennett Takes Poke At Tony Romo
Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett took a stab at Tony Romo yesterday while trying to raise awareness of the dangers of diabetes. The Dallas Morning News reported that there was a small crowd that watched Bennett throw a football to an 8-year-old girl with diabetes. “I hope she’s not Tony Romo ’cause I won’t get the ball,” said Bennett, who has only four receptions in five games. After the crowd’s nervous laugh, Kendall tossed a ball to Bennett, saying, “I found you.” If an 8-year-old can find an open Bennett, why can’t Romo? Source
Flozell Adams Holding Cowboys Back
Written by theMBIIIeffect Having a good left tackle is a necessity in the NFL. Ever since the Cowboys drafted Flozell Adams in the second round of the 1998 draft, Cowboys quarterbacks from Troy Aikman to Drew Henson and Quincy Carter have been fairly safe from their blind side. But the first few weeks of the 2009 season have been pretty rough for Flozell. He’s already been fined three times for leg whips and personal fouls, and his penalty total is growing exponentially it seems. His four penalties (yes, four penalties) this weekend in a 26-20 overtime win in Kansas City. [...]
