Dare we say the Dallas Cowboys are on a roll? It's admittedly hard to draw any other conclusion after the week they've put together.

Over the course of the last five days, Dallas has extended vice president of player personnel Will McClay, stole Aaron Whitecotton from the Jets to coach the defensive line and retained tight ends coach Lunda Wells, who garnered interest from several other teams.

It admittedly is hard to top the McClay extension, but the Cowboys came awfully close on Friday when they hired Klayton Adams as their new offensive coordinator.

A Boise State graduate who has an extensive coaching background, Adams' coaching stock exploded the last two seasons while serving as the Cardinals' offensive line coach. He was the architect of Arizona's elite running game and rugged blocking schemes.

Rather than promote Adams, the Cardinals have been bracing to lose their coveted assistant. While the Cowboys pulled out all the stops to hire him and won the sweepstakes, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported in the aftermath that Kellen Moore aimed to give Adams a prominent role on his staff.

New report confirms Cowboys stole Klayton Adams from Kellen Moore

An A+ week continues to get better for the Cowboys.

If you haven't heard, the Saints have zeroed in on Moore for their head coaching vacancy. General manager Mickey Loomis has informed the other candidates that the team will continue discussions with Moore. Ex-Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy pulled himself out of the running this week.

The 35-year-old was the last of the Saints' candidates to interview for a second time and it's already been reported that Moore has a third meeting lined up and has started putting together his staff behind the scenes. It is widely expected that this will become official after the Super Bowl.

This might sound sacrilegious, but this is a situation where the Cowboys benefit from the Eagles playing in the Super Bowl. The Saints obviously can't hire Moore until after Super Bowl is over and Moore can't begin to fill out his staff until he's officially hired.

Moore is a smart football mind so it's no surprise he had his eye on Adams. If anything, Fowler's report only validates the Cowboys' decision to hire Adams.

It's looking increasingly likely that Dallas will embrace a "bully ball" identity on offense. Last season under Adams' tutelage, the Cardinals ranked seven in rushing, third in quarterback pressures allowed, and fifth in sacks. James Conner finished with the most rushing yards (1,094) in any season of his seven-year career.

The Cowboys hit home runs hiring Matt Eberflus as defensive coordinator and poaching Whitecotton from the Jets, but Adams is without question their best hire of the offseason. Stealing Adams from Moore is just the icing on the cake.

Very quietly, the arrow is pointing up in Dallas.
