Roughly a month and a half ago, the Dallas Cowboys seemed destined to get themselves a top-10 selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Having already lost four straight games following their 3-2 start, America's Team was absolutely destroyed in Week 11 on Monday Night Football by the Houston Texans, taking a 34-10 loss to their in-state rivals to drop to 3-7.
At that point, the Cowboys held the ninth overall pick, and with the way things were going, it looked as if they might even slide into the top five by the time the end of the season rolled around.
But instead of just simply embracing the tank, Dallas decided to start playing football again, winning four of the next five and actually giving some hope that a miraculous comeback to get into the postseason could take place.
At the same time, of course, the Cowboys' position in the 2025 NFL Draft order was worsening, and they nearly fell out of the top half of the first round.
Dallas obviously isn't going to the playoffs, getting officially eliminated just over a week ago when the Washington Commanders upset the Philadelphia Eagles. And with the Cowboys taking an embarrassing 41-7 loss to Philly on Sunday, their standing in the draft order has improved, albeit not by much.
Updated 2025 NFL Draft order heading into Week 18
A week ago, following their victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Cowboys held the 14th overall pick in the 2025 draft. Now, following their loss to the rival Eagles, they jumped up just one slot to No. 13.
With how things played out in Week 17, the New England Patriots currently hold the No. 1 overall selection, with the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, and Jacksonville Jaguars rounding out the top five.
