Dallas Cowboys fans remember a time when Trevon Diggs was one of the better cornerbacks in the league as recently as 2021. In 2026, Diggs, now a member of the Seattle Seahawks, is not only viewed as a depth piece, but he is also being openly mocked by players who are supposed to fear him.

In Seattle's matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, Diggs tried to talk trash with future Hall of Fame receiver Mike Evans. Rather than simply yell back, Evans grabbed Diggs' jersey and turned him around to get a look at the name of the player who had the audacity to start something.

Diggs smacked him away, and Evans dismissively waved at him before trotting away. Diggs was once a player teams would warp entire game plans around when he was playing in Dallas, but now he is so bad that rival players aren't even taking his trash talk seriously.

Diggs' high-wire style of play helped him earn 20 interceptions in his pro career, including a ridiculous 11 picks during his 2021 breakout season. However, that style has proven to be a blessing and a curse, as his propensity for going for turnovers led to the aggressive wide receivers in the league dicing him up.

When paired with his always problematic tackling in the open field and a final season in Dallas that showed questionable effort on certain plays, Brian Schottenheimer broke off his relationship with Diggs. The Green Bay Packers paired him back up with ex-teammate Micah Parsons, but he didn't manage much.

The Seahawks clearly don't want to play Diggs tons of snaps, as the fact that he was signed to their practice squad is a notice that he was only added as an emergency due to injuries impacting their depth chart. However, instead of providing solid play for one of the best defensive coaches in the league, Diggs is now literally being used as a prop for the comedy stylings of Mike Evans.

Diggs has now transitioned from being a quality starter and one of the true ascending players at his position in the league to someone who is getting practice squad opportunities based on his name and pedigree. Even the most pessimistic Cowboys fans likely didn't see that happening as soon as it did.

The Cowboys aren't in a position to chortle at too many across the league, especially as it pertains to defense and cornerbacks. However, moving on from Diggs appears to be validated by the fact that he has received very little interest from teams around the league and is getting humiliated when he is on the field.
