The inevitable end of the Trevon Diggs era arrived on Tuesday, as the Dallas Cowboys released the former All-Pro cornerback after an alleged incident following the team's Christmas Day win over the Washington Commanders.

A Maryland native, Diggs asked Brian Schottenheimer after the game if he could hang back in D.C. to spend time with his family. Schottenehimer insisted that Diggs should fly back with the team. The 27-year-old refused and didn't get on the plane. That turned out to be the final straw.

Rest assured, this won't be the last that Cowboys fans will hear from Diggs. Part of that is waiting to find out where he plays next. He'll be free to sign with any team if he clears waivers.

Diggs will have suitors, but one stands out among the rest after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the former All-Pro hired super agent David Mulugheta of Athletes First to represent him.

Ex-Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs reuniting with Micah Parsons on the Packers feels obvious

The Packers were already on the shortlist of destinations. He's best friends with Micah Parsons, who, despite being out for the season with a torn ACL, will undoubtedly vouch for his former teammate. Not only that, but Mulugheta happens to be Parsons' agent.

Jerry Jones refused to negotiate with Mulugheta over the summer, even claiming at one point that he didn't know the agent's name. Jones never got over that Parsons backed out of their handshake agreement, and when Parsons took those terms to Mulugheta (as any player would), talks unraveled. The drawn-out, contentious battle ultimately pushed Jones to trade Parsons to Green Bay.

That Diggs is now represented by Mulugheta only strengthens the possibility of a reunion with Parsons. The timing is convenient, too, as Green Bay suddenly needs cornerback help after losing Nate Hobbs to a knee injury and Kamal Hadden to an ankle injury in Week 17.

Statistically speaking, Diggs has been one of the worst cornerbacks in the NFL this season. He's allowing a near-perfect passer rating when targeted and a whopping 17.9 yards per catch, per Pro Football Focus.

That hardly offers optimism, but it's fair to wonder if Diggs' form will improve now that he's finally out of Dallas. It's no secret that Diggs wasn't happy with the Cowboys.

The Bears (Al Harris connection) and Commanders (Dan Quinn connection) are other potential landing spots for Diggs. But if Diggs had his choice, Green Bay would likely be atop the list.
