The NFL offseason is about to go off the rails, and the Dallas Cowboys could be one of the main beneficiaries.
In an absolutely stunning turn of events, the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their trade with the Las Vegas Raiders that sent star pass rusher Maxx Crosby to Baltimore. The domino effect could be catastrophic, and everyone is looking at Dallas as a possible fallback suitor for Crosby, assuming the Raiders still plan to trade him.
Appearing on NFL Network to make sense of the brewing controversy, insider Tom Pelissero confirmed that the Cowboys would still be interested in acquiring Crosby (h/t RJ Ochoa, Blogging The Boys).
"There are teams that are going to be interested still in a Maxx Crosby trade, but there are a lot of things that they need to get answers on. Starting with the medical."
I would specifically say, the other team that was in it at the end as we reported is the Dallas Cowboys. I am told the Dallas Cowboys would still be interested in a Maxx Crosby trade."
The Dallas Cowboys will reportedly go after Maxx Crosby again
Since the new league year isn't until 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday, the Crosby trade was not official, leaving Baltimore with an opening to pull the rug out from underneath Las Vegas.
There are so many variables that must be considered before the Cowboys strike for Crosby. For starters, the Ravens' stunt has completely tanked his value, so Dallas must reconsider its reported offer of a 2026 first-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick, and a player.
Furthermore, what does it mean for Rashan Gary? Will the Cowboys back out of that trade to facilitate a Crosby trade?
The 2027 fourth-rounder they surrendered for Gary is inconsequential to the Crosby package, but it would mean Dallas adding two high-priced pass rushers. Even after they rework Gary's deal, he's not going to be cheap. As we said, a lot of factors are at play other than just Crosby being available.
Putting logic in timeout for a minute, though, doesn't Jerry Jones owe it to himself to circle back? Crosby is reportedly a player the Cowboys have been enamored with for years, and they were that close to acquiring him just four days ago.
The price just dropped significantly. Go get your guy, Jerry.
