Speculation is ramping up about what the Dallas Cowboys will do with the No. 12 overall pick in the NFL Draft. It doesn't help that draft experts are torn about the selection.
Will the Cowboys do the expected and take a wide receiver? What if Ashton Jeanty, widely considered a top-three player in this class, falls in their lap? Will they ignore the red flags surrounding Michigan cornerback Will Johnson and attempt to fortify their secondary?
These are all possibilities.
Perhaps the biggest question mark facing Dallas is what they do if receivers Tetairoa McMillan and Matthew Golden are both available. Many Cowboys fans would take McMillan in that scenario, but myriad recent mock drafts have had Golden coming off the board at No. 12.
ESPN analyst Mina Kimes presented the great Todd McShay with this exact predicament on the latest episode of her podcast, The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny.
NFL Draft expert Todd McShay thinks the Cowboys will take Tetairoa McMillan over Matthew Golden
"What the Cowboys will very likely do in that scenario if it’s down to those two picks is take Tetairoa McMillan," McShay said. "It's the complement [to CeeDee Lamb]. You've got your difference maker on the other side. You look for a big, one-on-one guy in Tet - jump balls, don't need him to be a great route runner year one."
While music to Cowboys fans' ears, it was not an easy pick for McShay.
"I want to make it perfectly clear to anyone out there that's listening and watching: I would take Golden given most other circumstances. This is a Dallas thing specifically - their weapons, Dak [Prescott's] style."

It sounds like McShay has the two wideouts extremely close on his big board. That seems to be the general consensus and it was not the case before the College Football Playoff.
McMillan is viewed as the WR1 in the class in most circles, but Golden has been hot on his tail following the CFP and an electric Combine. The former Longhorn averaged over 100 receiving yards over Texas' final four games and posted the fastest 40-yard dash at the position. Some experts believe he will be the first receiver drafted.
McMillan, on the other hand, might be the latest victim of prospect fatigue. We have seen the Arizona product fall to the middle of the first round in several mock drafts over the last month.
McShay isn't convinced that McMillan is the better prospect, but he has been on the McMillan-to-Dallas train from early in the draft process. The veteran draft analyst is spot on in saying McMillan is the better fit for the Cowboys.
While McShay's analysis does not mean Dallas will draft McMillan over Golden, it should ease fans' minds as we inch closer to April 24.
