These 2 polar opposite NFL Draft EDGE prospects could both star with Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys' revamped defensive line, which came about after adding Kenny Clark and Quinnen Williams and trading Osa Odighizuwa away, won't be fully completed until Jerry Jones and Will McClay polish off their work in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys may need to use pick No. 92, acquired in the Odighizuwa trade, on an edge rusher. Two names who could slide to this range after milquetoast pre-Draft processes are Alabama's LT Overton and Texas Tech's Romello Height. Both went from fringe first-rounders to firm Day 2 locks.

Once the Cowboys address two of their bigger issues, namely their lack of star power in the secondary and a very thin linebacker room, they should be freed up enough to make a run at one of these two despite the fact that they couldn't be more different as players.

The Dallas Cowboys may consider LT Overton, Romello Height in 2026 NFL Draft

Height, who played alongside projected top-50 picks David Bailey, Jacob Rodriguez, and Lee Hunter with the Red Raiders, has some concerns coming into the pros. At around 240 pounds, Height profiles as a poor run defender who is never going to be capable of putting his hand in the dirt.

Where Height excels is using his quick first step and a surprisingly developed array of pass rush moves on the outside. Height would also be heading to a scheme that is akin to a Philadelphia defense that got promising results out of similarly slender rushers in the past.

On the other side, Overton's concerningly slow 40-yard dash and explosion times are helping him land the dreaded "tweener" label. Some worry if he is not quick enough to be an NFL edge rusher, yet not big enough to make the switch to more of an interior role.

Overton may be appealing to a Cowboys team that will need to find someone who can step into Marshawn Kneeland's shoes. Overton, in a 3-4 scheme, could be a perfect run defender on the edge with just enough juice as a pass rusher to get to the quarterback regularly if developed properly.

Adding Overton to the mix might give Dallas some stylistic contrast on the edge due to the loss of Jadeveon Clowney and the presence of Ezeiruaku. On the other hand, pairing Ezeiruaku and Height together would give the Cowboys a young 1-2 punch of speed off the edge that would be tough to rival.

Dallas is probably going to add an edge rusher at some point in the Draft, and it would behoove them to look at a player like either Height or Overton due to how their unique physical profiles might be able to give this line a little bit of a boost.
