The Dallas Cowboys are full steam ahead towards the 2026 NFL season, and they made sure to take care of defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. On Aug. 10, the Cowboys and Williams agreed to a three-year, $105.9 million extension with $101 million guaranteed and $63.35 million guaranteed at signing.
Despite Williams being in Dallas for less than a year, the team feels like he's a building block for the future. Recent comments from Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones demonstrate that, and in the process, he appeared to take a jab at former Cowboys edge Micah Parsons.
"The other thing is just what a man he is. He's a leader. We didn't have a lot of leadership on defense for the last couple of years. To have him and Kenny Clark and Rashan Gary. I think they really picked it up over there in terms of the culture and the leadership," Jones said per Jon Machota of The Athletic.
The should speak volumes, considering that Parsons was in Dallas for four years (2021-2024).

Everyone who is a fan of the Cowboys knows that the team slowed-played their pursuit of a Parsons extension. Instead of handing him a lofty deal, they shipped him to the Green Bay Packers, and their concerns about his leadership could have played a role in that.
His talent on the field was undeniable; no one could question that. So, it was unclear why Dallas didn't hammer out a new deal with the young star. The comments made by Jones indicate that perhaps they had other concerns with Parsons, which is clearly something that they don't feel with Williams.
The Alabama product has been a stand-up professional on and off the field. During his time with the Jets, Williams did a ton of work in the community.
He created the Quinnen Williams Foundation, which helps attack poverty and unfairness in the surrounding community. He has a scholarship program and gives out $50,000 to single-parent families in the Birmingham, AL, area, and has since expanded to the New Jersey area.
Meanwhile, on the field, he's a guy who can be leaned on by his teammates and serve as a vocal leader. The Cowboys cherish those characteristics and rewarded him.
On the gridiron, Williams is also one of the best interior defensive linemen. Across 98 career games, he has 343 total tackles, 62 TFLs, 110 QB hits, eight forced fumbles, and 41.5 sacks. According to NextGenStats, Williams is second among defensive tackles in pressures (257).
His impact is felt on and off the field, which the Cowboys loved. They didn't feel the same way about Parsons, and Jones' comments illustrate that. Even though he didn't name Parsons, his comments seem to imply it, and it was fairly well known that he and Dak Prescott didn't always see eye-to-eye.
