The football world is being reminded of just how good the Dallas Cowboys can be when Dak Prescott is healthy. Back from his hamstring injury, Prescott has looked like the quarterback who finished second in MVP voting two years ago on Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

And he's been doing more than just throwing dots all over Vic Fangio's secondary.

Called into action after Miles Sanders had a crushing fumble in the red zone, Prescott made a touchdown-saving tackle as the Eagles defender scooped up the rock with nothing but green grass in front of him. Prescott showed elite awareness and tackling instincts to trip him up before he could gain a head of steam.

Dak Prescott saved the Cowboys vs. the Eagles with a touchdown-saving tackle

That is simply incredible from the Cowboys' quarterback. It's hard to imagine Prescott making a more important tackle in his career.

The irony is that Dallas' defense has struggled to tackle Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts all game. The Cowboys have blown several chances to bring them down for a loss, only for Barkley and Hurts to escape the initial hit and break off chunk plays. That was the story of the first half, and a major reason why Dallas gave up touchdowns on each of the Eagles’ first three possessions.

Prescott made a similar heads-up play against the Steelers last season after Rico Dowdle fumbled at the goal line. The three-time Pro Bowler was the first to react and jumped on the ball, allowing Dallas to retain possession in a game they ultimately won in the final seconds.

Prescott has now baited Jalen Carter into getting thrown out of the game and prevented a back-breaking touchdown on top of being surgical in the pocket. Hopefully, somebody else steps up to help the Cowboys climb out of their 24-20 deficit when the game emerges from a rain delay.
