Going into last offseason, Dallas Cowboys fans were given a false vote of confidence from Jerry Jones that the team was "all-in" for the 2024 season.
As we came to find out, that notion was, indeed, a complete and total lie.
This offseason, though, the Cowboys enter into the offseason with a fairly high pick in the 2025 NFL Draft at no. 12 overall. This does bring some hope amid other questions within the roster. Aside from current players and potential contract situations needing to be resolved, let's look focus on that first-round pick for a moment.
One of the top rumored targets for the Cowboys, in this upcoming draft, is one of the more exciting running back prospects we've seen come out in a while: Ashton Jeanty.

The Boise State product is a true workhorse back with star power just waiting to be unleashed at the pro level. Could the Cowboys begin this year's draft with a bang by bringing Jeanty to Dallas?
Many fans would love the move. Heck, quarterback Dak Prescott would likely rave over the pick. But, what they might not love is how one former NFL running back would use him if he were the coach.
Reggie Bush has an insane take on Ashton Jeanty in the NFL
In a recent interview done with FanSided's Iain McMillan and Cody Williams, former NFL running back Reggie Bush spoke on behalf of Tostitos and answered a few questions; one, in particular, being about the "joker" position in today's game.
Bush then took it upon himself to expound on that idea and refer to Jeanty as one who could become that type of player; a "do-it-all" type, if you will.
"For example, Ashton Jeanty, who I got a chance to spend some time with recently ... I would love to see Ashton Jeanty returning kicks. I would love to see Ashton Jeanty returning punts.
"Even if it's something he's never done before ... just because we're in the era where we need our players to do more. It's not okay to just go into a team and say 'I'm just going to play this one position and that's it.' Unless you're the quarterback," Bush said.
That would be one heck of a choice. Taking your starting running back, who happens to be a workhorse type and one who can effectively change the course of a game with one play, and putting him back on kick or punt returns?
I see Bush's point, to an extent. But, the healthy majority of Cowboys fans who were first thrilled to have landed Jeanty would then be incredibly skeptical and worried for Jeanty's health. Is it really worth the risk?
My gut says no, but you can come to your own conclusion if the idea ever materialized in reality.
