It's always fun when Tony Romo is on the call for Dallas Cowboys games. It has to be a little awkward for Romo to analyze his successor, Dak Prescott, but you wouldn't know it based on his commentary. Despite recent criticism, Romo is one of the best color analysts in the NFL.

Speaking of awkward, though, Romo took CBS partner Jim Nantz for a spin when the former Cowboys quarterback commented on Dolly Parton's halftime show outfit. The 77-year-old Parton was decked out in a Cowboys cheerleading outfit.

Romo was oddly complimentary of Parton's wardrobe, which is a tough line to toe to begin with. If you can pull it off -- preferably with some comedic relief or sarcasm sprinkled in -- then great. If not, then leave it for the masses on social media to chew on.

Unfortunately for Romo, his delivery left a lot to be desired.

Did anyone else get second-hand embarrassment watching that? It's clear that Nantz tried to change the subject to the Cowboys-Commanders game, but Romo wasn't having it. Eventually (thankfully), the former Cowboys quarterback bit his tongue and football took centerstage.

In Romo's defense, Parton's outfit did shock the country. After all, it was the full Cowboys cheerleader experience. It's an iconic uniform and Parton had it all, including the star-laden white vest and white shorts.

The country music icon performed her greatest hits, including "Jolene" and "9 to 5" She also delivered Queen's classic singalongs "We Will Rock You" and "We are the Champions." Social media butted heads on the performance itself, but it goes without saying Parton has a (lifelong?) fan in Romo.

Thankfully for the former four-time Pro Bowler, Nantz was looking out. The last thing CBS' producers could have wanted was Romo lasting another second rambling on about Parton's scandulous cheerleading outfit.

That was certainly awkward, just like it'd be awkward if you missed out on FanDuel Sportsbook's $150 bonus for picking ANY NFL Week 12 winner!
