Tom Brady said quiet part out loud about CeeDee Lamb during Cowboys' loss

While the Dallas Cowboys' defense deserves most of the blame for Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the offense did not show up until the fourth quarter. The comeback was unexpected and what made it even more jarring is that CeeDee Lamb was a non-factor during it.

Lamb was visibly frustrated throughout the game. Whether it was after a missed connection with Dak Prescott or not getting targeted when he thought he could have made a play, Lamb displayed poor body language from the jump. He didn't even make himself available to the media.

While Mike McCarthy could have done a better job of getting Lamb involved early (he wasn't targeted on Dallas' opening drive), Lamb has to show better leadership. He had an animated exchange with a comforting Prescott on the sideline and could not keep his emotions in check as wide receivers coach Robert Prince Jr. attempted to console him.

During the Cowboys' comeback in the fourth quarter, Lamb dropped a routine pass on 2-and-2 that would have moved the chains. After the play, Lamb sat on the ground and put his hands on the sides of his helmet. FOX color analyst Tom Brady noticed Lamb's frustration, and while Brady refrained from blasting Lamb, he said more than enough.

Tom Brady did not appreciate Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb's body language in Week 3

"Don’t see that from CeeDee much,” said Brady, via The Athletic. “Just some of that body language from him today — CeeDee’s a great player, there’s no doubt about it. Just a little frustration. Sometimes that frustration on the sideline leads to frustration on the field. When I see him at his best, he’s excitable, he brings the juice, brings the energy.”

In the fourth quarter, an under duress Prescott attempted a shuffle pass to Rico Dowdle on a two-point conversion attempt that fell incomplete. A successful try would have brought Dallas within one score. Lamb was again visibly annoyed that Prescott didn't look his way. The replay left Brady with one conclusion:

“There was nothing there for you, CeeDee."

The fact Brady took exception to Lamb's body language says it all. A seven-time Super Bowl champion and widely viewed as the greatest player in NFL history, Brady is well aware that Lamb's actions are not conducive to winning.

Brady often scolded teammates and the occasional coach on the sideline during his playing career. As the ultimate winner, Brady earned that right. There is also a huge difference between demanding accountability and better performance than pouting and lambasting teammates.

To make matters worse, Lamb's frustration spilled over into his play. He fumbled in the first quarter and dropped a few passes in the second half. He caught just one of seven targets in the final two quarters. It was clear to anyone watching that Lamb was in his own head.

It sounded in real time that Brady bit his tongue on multiple occasions regarding Lamb's body language but he said all that needed to be said. Lamb needs to show better leadership during adversity. Moping and pointing the finger doesn't accomplish anything.
