Tom Brady takes cheap shot at Dak Prescott after Cowboys-Browns Week 1 announcement

The Dallas Cowboys' 2024 schedule will be released in 48 hours. It was widely expected that the Cowboys would play in primetime to open the season. In a surprise twist, they'll visit the Browns in America's Game of the Week on Fox. The game will mark Tom Brady's highly-anticipated debut as a broadcaster.
Brady retired after the 2022 season and swiftly inked a 10-year, $375 million contract to become Fox's lead color commentator. He replaces the widely-popular Greg Olsen as play-by-play man Kevin Burkhart's sidekick
Brady has some big shoes to fill as Olsen is widely considered the best color analyst in the game. Ironically, that title formerly belonged to Tony Romo, who's faced some criticism after he jumped Jim Nantz's call of the Chiefs' walk-off touchdown in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII.
Like Romo, Dak Prescott knows all about being the center of attention. The Week 1 matchup vs Cleveland doesn't ooze Prescott storylines but Brady threw shade at the Cowboys QB after the announcement was made.

"Obviously having the Cowboys on is a huge draw," Brady said. "As America’s Team, that’s gonna get a little hard for me to say that all the time, understanding that they were the competition for a long time. But in this new role, I know how important the Cowboys are to this network.
“They got great storylines. Dak Prescott, let’s see if he can finally come through. Did that just slip out?”
If you watch the video, Brady didn't mean much arm by the Prescott comment. "Did that just slip out?" was more in response to the crowd reaction. However, the crowd might have expertly read between the lines. This can easily be interpreted as a tongue-in-cheek moment by the seven-time Super Bowl champ.
It seems Brady has forgot that Prescott and the Cowboys sent him into retirement during the 2022 playoffs. In Dallas' 31-14 win over Brady's Bucs, Prescott completed 25 of 33 passes for 305 yards and four passing touchdowns. He added 24 rushing yards and a rushing TD, so he accounted for five touchdowns to send the great Brady packing. It was a flawless performance.
That's what makes this a cheap shot from Brady. Yes, Prescott hasn't made it past the Divisional Round in his career, but he just finished second in MVP voting and carried the Cowboys on his shoulders all season. Malicious intent or not, this was uncalled for on Brady's part.
