Regrading the Cowboys 2023 draft class after year one

The Dallas Cowboys' rookie class wasn't overly impactful in year one...

4. Viliami Fehoko, DE/EDGE -- Grade: Incomplete/D

Once again, another rookie who did not contribute at all this season. I'll never fault a team for drafting pass rushers, or players they feel can be "pressure players", but the Cowboys might have been better off going in a different direction here.

Fehoko wasn't highly regarded by the NFL Draft community, which ultimately means nothing, but the Cowboys stuck him on a depth chart that was always going to bury him. This was essentially a draft-and-stash pick when there were still players on the board who could have made sense for Dallas, like receiver Charlie Jones, quarterback Aidan O'Connell, or receiver Tyler Scott.

Hopefully, Fehoko is able to make an impact in year two.

5. Asim Richards, OT -- Grade: C-

Asim Richards at least saw the field in a handful of games for the Cowboys this season, unlike many of his 2023 classmates. There might be some developmental potential here, but when you once again look at what the Cowboys passed on to make this pick, you can't help but be frustrated. Just eight picks later, the Los Angeles Rams selected BYU wide receiver Puka Nacua.

How did the Cowboys' scouting department miss on that one? How did the rest of the NFL miss on that one, for that matter? Hopefully, Richards can develop into something. He's got promising talent but will opportunity meet the talent?
