4. Washington Commanders

It's no surprise the Commanders come in last on this list entering the 2023 season. They are the only team in the division still searching for their franchise quarterback.

The Commanders will turn to Howell this season, a 2022 fifth-round pick. The reports have been encouraging about the second-year quarterback in the offseason, and the team is excited to see what he's got.

Howell started one game in 2022 and showed signs of his potential. He threw for 169 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a Week 18 victory over the Cowboys. The former North Carolina quarterback will also have a solid receiving group in Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Curtis Samuel.

But the uncertainty at quarterback makes Washington an easy pick to finish last in the division.

Outside of quarterback play, though, they have solid playmakers like McLaurin, Dotson, Brian Robinson, and Antonio Gibson. Their defense is also expected to take a step up from last year after drafting cornerback Emmanuel Forbes in the first round.

The Commanders are in an interesting situation, and depending on Howell's development, it will tell a lot about their record. The signing of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy could also help Washington's offense flow better in 2023.
