8. Safety

Safety is a position that at one point seemed to be a need every year. It’s not a unit that jumps out or possesses any star talent. However, they have guys good enough to contribute and, at this point, have plenty of experience.

With veterans like Malik Hooker, Jayron Kearse and Donovan Wilson, the Cowboys can enter the season knowing they have a group they can rely on and a three-headed monster at the position. Not to mention, Israel Mukuamu and Markquese Bell are two awesome reserve options to deploy if injury strikes.

7. Cornerback

There is no question the Cowboys should field a solid duo with a pair of All-Pros in Trevon Diggs and newcomer Stephon Gilmore.

In addition, the team can feel confident about second-year man DaRon Bland, who led the team in interceptions as a rookie last season, and they will have Jourdan Lewis back from injury assuming he isn't cut or traded.

Is that enough? Every team knows you need at least five reliable corners going into a season. The Cowboys hope to finally see some promise in Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright. Seeing both players fighting for a spot at camp wouldn't be a surprise.
