2. Quarterbacks

  • Dak Prescott
  • Cooper Rush
  • Trey Lance

I love the QB room the Dallas Cowboys have assembled. You've got an established starter in Dak Prescott. Contract question marks aside, I think you obviously plan on Prescott being your long-term option here, and Cooper Rush has proven he's a capable and viable QB2.

The move that I really love here is the aggressive move to go get Trey Lance from the 49ers. It only cost Dallas a fourth-round pick to get a former third overall pick with tremendous upside. Lance will have an opportunity to rehab his value in Dallas and even if he is groomed as a future starter for another team, I like that Dallas is buying low on a talent like that who is still only 23 years old.

This is a really good-looking room going into 2023 even if you consider Lance a longer-term reclamation project.

1. Edge rushers

  • Micah Parsons
  • DeMarcus Lawrence
  • Sam Williams
  • Dorance Armstrong
  • Dante Fowler Jr.
  • Viliami Fehoko Jr.

I don't think there's a better pass rush group around the NFL. Maybe Green Bay has a case with their depth, but I think Dallas is going to be able to bring pass rush off the edge in waves all year long with this crew.

Micah Parsons has developed into arguably the NFL's top defensive player. Dorance Armstrong had 8.5 sacks last year while Dante Fowler Jr. and DeMarcus Lawrence added 6.0 sacks each. Sam Williams added 4.0 sacks and 9 QB hits in limited action as a rookie.

Everyone on this list except for rookie Viliami Fehoko Jr. had at least 9 QB hits last season, and the top three of Parsons, Lawrence, and Armstrong combined for 55 QB hits altogether last season.
