NFL Thanksgiving Schedule 2024: Full list of teams and familiar opponent for Cowboys

It's an NFL tradition that the Dallas Cowboys play on Thanksgiving. Last year, Cowboys fans had the luxury of witnessing history on the national holiday. DaRon Bland set the pick-six record with an electric interception returned for a touchdown against the Commanders.

Bland jumped a Sam Howell pass and made four Washington defenders miss as he scampered 60 yards into the end zone. Ecstatic Cowboys teammates celebrated by tossing Bland in the Salvation Army Red Kettle. CBS play-by-play man Jim Nantz's call of the score was goosebump-inducing.

The Cowboys will be hard-pressed to deliver another Thanksgiving win of that magnitude this season. With the NFL schedule release just hours away, we officially now whom Dallas will play as well as the other two standalone matchups.

Per reports, the Cowboys will host the rival NY Giants in the second game. Meanwhile, the Lions will host the Bears to get the party started and the Dolphins will visit the Packers in the night cap to wrap the holiday slate.

NFL Thanksgiving Schedule 2024: Cowboys to host NY Giants

An odd quirk to this year's Thanksgiving slate is that almost all of these teams played last year, including the Cowboys and Lions (who play every year) and the Packers. Even the Dolphins played in the NFL's first-ever Black Friday game, so they're no stranger to the peculiar schedule adjustment.

The Cowboys and Giants meet on primetime seemingly every year. Typically, the NFL pits the rivals against each other in Week 1, but this will be the second time in three seasons that Dallas and New York meet on Thanksgiving.

Cowboys last five Thanksgiving Day games:

The Cowboys actually have a losing record on Thanksgiving over the last five years. They lost three straight games before rattling off two consecutive victories in 2022 and '23. The loss to Washington in 2020 can't be held against Dallas as they were without several key players, including QB Dak Prescott.

Dallas Cowboys all-time record on Thanksgiving

The Cowboys are 33-22-1 all-time on Thanksgiving. They lost three of their last four Thanksgiving Day fixtures before drubbing Washington last year. While the Lions have also kept the tradition alive, Dallas has fared much better than Detroit. The Lions are 37-45-2 all-time on the holiday and they've lost seven straight games to bring their Thanksgiving record to 6-18 since the turn of the century.
