It feels like yesterday that the Dallas Cowboys reported for training camp in Oxnard, but the NFL playoffs are already here. The regular season was a smashing success for the Cowboys, but they'll utlimately be judged by what they do in the postseason, which has been unkind to them spanning three decades.

There's reason to believe, though, that Dallas is better positioned this year to make a deep run than any of their previous playoff trips since the turn of the century. It's certainly their best chance in the Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy era given they're guaranteed a minimum of two games at AT&T Stadium.

It all starts on Sunday against the upstart Green Bay Packers, but that is far from the only intriguing game of Wild Card Weekend. This is viewed as the best football-viewing weekend of the year given the sheer number of playoff games.

For your viewing pleasure, let's break down the TV schedule and matchups.

What teams are playing Wild Card Weekend?

NFC:

  • Dallas Cowboys
  • Detroit Lions
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • Los Angeles Rams
  • Green Bay Packers

The San Francisco 49ers have a first-round bye and will play whatever team has the lowest seed following this weekend's games. The Eagles dropped all the way to the No. 5 seed after having a stranglehold on the NFC East all season before the final month, when they finished 1-5 to earn a trip to Tampa Bay.

That sets up a rematch of the 2021 Wild Card round between the Bucs and Eagles. Elsewhere, Matthew Stafford returns to Detroit to play the Lions, while Jared Goff will play his former team, the Rams, who traded him to Detroit for Stafford and draft picks.

AFC:

  • Miami Dolphins
  • Kansas City Chiefs
  • Houston Texans
  • Cleveland Browns
  • Buffalo Bills
  • Pittsburgh Steelers

The revenge game narrative extends to the AFC. Tyreek Hill's Dolphins return to Arrowhead to play Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs. That's punishment for Miami failing to win the AFC East at home against the Bills in Week 18. For winning that game, Buffalo gets a home date against the Steelers, while C.J. Stroud leads the Texans against Joe Flacco and the Browns.
