The Dallas Cowboys picked up a win over the New York Giants, but fans are not celebrating the victory. Not only was it another sloppy game from Dallas - aside from a few standouts who propelled the team to win - but superstar Micah Parsons was carted off with an apparent ankle injury.

Parsons' leg got rolled up from behind as he planted his left foot. He rolled around on the field in noticeable pain. The All-Pro's reaction had Cowboys fans fearing a potential knee injury. While Dallas dodged disaster in that regard, Parsons is far from out of the woods.

While X-Rays were negative, Parsons will undergo an MRI Friday in Dallas. That will determine the severity of the injury and a potential return timetable. While fans hold their breath before the MRI results, insider Ian Rapoport provided a concerning update on Parsons.

UPDATE: MRI confirms Cowboys' Micah Parsons suffered a high-ankle sprain

Rapoport hast just confirmed that Parsons suffered a high-ankle sprain. It remains to be seen how much time Parsons will miss.

The Cowboys are likely going to play this day-by-day, whether that be getting multiple opinions and testing Parsons' pain tolerance to see how much time, if any, he needs to miss. Ultimately, though, you have to think Dallas will err on the side of caution and sit Parsons for a couple of weeks.

There's multiple ways to look at this. On one hand, Parsons avoided a knee injury, which could have been catastrophic to the Cowboys' season. Depending on the severity, though, high-ankle sprains sometimes require 4 to 6 weeks for a full recovery.

That actually aligns well with Dallas' schedule. They have tough matchups upcoming against the Steelers and Lions, but their bye is in Week 7. If Parsons has to miss a couple weeks, then the bye comes at a perfect time, as Rapoport laid out on social media.

Parsons will also have 10 days of rest before they visit the Steelers on Sunday Night Football. Whether Parsons can suit up for the game will depend on his pain tolerance and ability to plant and explode off his left foot. As of early Friday morning, Parsons was having major trouble walking after getting off the team flight once it landed back in Dallas.

The Cowboys dodged a worse-case scenario with their all-word defender, but it will be tough sledding for a struggling defense if he is forced to miss any time.
