NFC East Power Rankings Week 2: Cowboys defense might be the best in the NFL
By Randy Gurzi
Once again, the NFC East appears to be full of competetive teams. The Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Philadelhia Eagles are all 1-0 after the first Week,
The lone team to suffer a loss was the New York Giants, who were embarrassed by the Cowboys at home — losing 40-0.
With three teams sharing the lead (Dallas technically sits in first due to the divisional win) let's try and sort out which team is in the best spot heading into Week 2 with an updated NFC East Power Rankings.
NFC East Power Rankings No. 4: New York Giants (0-1)
This offseason, the New York Giants made a questionable decision when they paid Daniel Jones $160 million to remain their starting quarterback. He did lead them to the playoffs last season but there's no denying that he's not on the same level as some of the other quarterbacks who broke the bank.
Now after just one week, his contract has become a major point of contention among their fan base. While it's fair to ask if he deserved the deal, it's not fair to judge him on this game alone.
The fact is, New York's offensive line was a major problem. Jones never had any time to get comfortable in the pocket, getting sacked seven times. It could have even been eight, had it not been for a sack from Chanucey Golston getting overturned due to a hold in the secondary.
This was an awful game in all three phases. The Giants gave up a touchdown on special teams, threw a pick six, and had no answers for the Dallas offense. Everyone needs to look in the mirror — not just Jones.
