Jerry Jones bizarrely signs baby as Cowboys fans overwhelm State Farm Stadium
By Jerry Trotta
The Dallas Cowboys are down three starting offensive linemen for their Week 3 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals: left guard Zack Martin, left tackle Tyron Smith, who wasn't on the initial list of inactives, and center Tyler Biadasz.
It seems as though Jerry Jones and company playing the long game. None of the trio are dealing with a serious injury, per reports, and the double-digit-favored Cowboys should handle their business in this one.
With the Cardinals projected to finish with the NFL's worst record, the turnout at State Farm Stadium wasn't what you would expect. That's putting it kindly, as Cowboys fans flooded the arena with a sea of blue leading up to kickoff.
One lucky group of fans made their way to the ground level seats pregame and proceeded to ask Jerry Jones to sign their baby.
Of course Jones obliged.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones signed a baby before Week 3 vs Cardinals.
Because when you have the opportunity to ask Jerry Jones to sign your baby, you simply have to do it, right? This has been a familiar sight with the Dallas owner. Typically, it's occurs during training camp, but the lackluster turnout from the Cardinals faithful allowed this couple to get within Jones' proximity.
It will only help the Cowboys that they have the support of fans. Week 1 result notwithstanding, playing on the road in the NFL isn't easy.
Sure enough, the Cowboys got off to a sluggish start Sunday. The defense ultimately held strong for a field goal, but had allowed a 44-yard run from Arizona QB Josh Dobbs on the game's opening possession and a James Conner rushing touchdown after a long second drive.
It wasn't any prettier on offense. The first drive looked as follows: Terence Steele false start, Dak Prescott delay of game, followed by a dump-off to Rico Dowdle, who slipped after crossing the line of scrimmage. They then punted on 4th and 15 from their own 20.
Let's hope Dallas picks it up from here on out. We don't need Jones signing any more babies for good luck.
