So, about that elite New York Jets defense? Yes, many play-callers are capable of scripting a gorgeous opening drive, but the Dallas Cowboys thwarted any concerns fans had about the offense's ability to score points against the Jets' D on the game's opening drive.

Dak Prescott, Tony Pollard and CeeDee Lamb marched the offense down the field before Prescott connected with Jake Ferguson for a touchdown on third and goal to put the Cowboys in front early. It was a commanding 12-play drive and just what the doctor ordered against an undermanned Jets squad.

Who's (partially) to thank for the fast start? None other than Jayron Kearse, who got the team riled up with a pregame speech for the ages.

In the huddle, Kearse approached several Cowboys teammates and had a simple (yet not safe for work) message for each of them.

No wonder the Cowboys marched down the field on the opening drive! Kearse calling out his teammates -- and cussing beyond belief -- really put this speech over the top.

On the touchdown, Prescott showed excellent patience to locate Ferguson and the tight end did great to turn and find the end zone before the Jets defenders reacted in time to stop him short.

Coming off a shutout against the Giants, you had a feeling the defense would have something to say about the offense's hot start. Sure enough, DeMarcus Lawrence blew up a handoff to Breece Hall on the first play before Micah Parsons came flying in on third down to sack Zach Wilson and force a Jets punt.

AT&T Stadium erupted as Parsons crawled after bringing down the young QB.

Couldn't have scripted a better start for the Cowboys.

We don't expect Kearse's speech to flame out anytime soon, but it's important Dallas maintains this energy and doesn't take its foot off the gas.
