Jason Garrett caught NSFW stray from Dez Bryant during Cowboys Week 1 blowout win

Despite having a Super Bowl ring and winning over 60% of his games as a head coach, Mike McCarthy isn't held in a high regard by the national media. That said, McCarthy has done great things since he was hired as the Dallas Cowboys' head coach before the 2020 season.

Following the Cowboys' 40-0 drubbing of the Giants on the road in Week 1, folks have nothing negative to say about McCarthy. He ran circles around Brian Daboll and he coached a conservative game on offense, which is exactly what the doctor ordered with Dallas' defense running roughshod all night.

Former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant took notice of the performance. Bryant loved that McCarthy had his players ready to maul a rival in primetime and that Dallas didn't take its foot off the gas after going up big early.

Bryant raved about McCarthy on Twitter, but more so took former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett to the woodshed. Bryant deleted the post almost immediately, but it was up long enough to get screen-grabbed.

This came out of nowhere from Bryant, which suggests the former Pro Bowler has deep-seeded issues with Garrett's coaching methods.

After Garrett was let go as Giants offensive coordinator during the 2021 season, Bryant acknowledged Garrett is a "great dude," but "never respected his philosophy towards players and the game." Dez doubled down in a later tweet and inferred that he isn't the only one who feels this way about Garrett.

Bryant didn't mince words there and he certainly didn't in this post. He seems adamant that Garrett is too "nice" to maximize an NFL roster that has Super Bowl aspirations.

That's open for interpretation, but it's largely understood that Garrett kept his post as head coach for as long as he did (10 years) because he's adored by ownership. And most Cowboys fans recognize the team underachieved during Garrett's tenure.

In 10 years under Garrett, Dallas made the playoffs three times (never as a Wild Card) and finished 2-3 in the postseason altogether.

Bryant obviously could have lauded McCarthy without eviscerating Garrett, but it's obvious the former All-Pro believes Garrett isn't cut out to take superstars like Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs and CeeDee Lamb to the promised land.

Coming off back-to-back 12-win seasons and a 40-0 road shutout, it's pretty clear McCarthy has what it takes.

Hopefully he can build off last season and get past the Divisional Round.
