Cowboys Unsung Hero Award – DaRon Bland

Whenever you have a player go down for the season especially a starter at cornerback it’s tough for a team to recover unless they are able to make a trade to bring someone in of the same caliber as the player they lost.

Well, that isn’t the case for the Cowboys who were able to rotate their player's starting positions and insert DaRon Bland into the spot vacated by Trevon Diggs after his season-ending knee injury. Last season we saw Bland take over on the opposite side of the field when cornerback Anthony Brown was lost for the season and opposing quarterbacks were able to pick on him and get the best of him at times last season.

This season though has been completely different, since taking over for Diggs Bland has been great and leading the team in defensive touchdowns (3), interceptions (4), and passes defended (10). He’s forced quarterbacks to think twice about throwing his way and that has helped this team immensely. There’s no question that if he weren’t on this roster the Cowboys' defense without Diggs would be in a completely different situation which is why Bland is this teams unsung hero.
