George Kittle quote, NSFW shirt shows 49ers have no respect for Cowboys
By Jerry Trotta
The Dallas Cowboys aren't in the same class as the San Francisco 49ers. That much was theorized heading into Week 5, but Sunday Night Football proved that there is a significant gap in coaching, talent and toughness separating these teams.
There are myriad frustrating takeaways from the loss, but the Cowboys allowing George Kittle to erupt for his biggest game of the season was right up there. The 49ers tight end hadn't scored a touchdown in four games and produced a combined 49 receiving yards on six catches in the previous two weeks.
Kittle only caught three passes Sunday night, but he led the 49ers in receiving and all three receptions went for touchdowns. All three scores were a dagger in the hearts of Cowboys fans, but none more than the third as it made the score 28-10 with 7:20 left in the third quarter.
There obviously isn't much love lost between Dallas and San Francisco, and Kittle personified that with an NSFW undershirt aimed at Dallas that he showed off to the 49ers faithful after his third touchdown.
49ers George Kittle's NSFW undershirt adds to Cowboys Week 5 embarrassment
You have to hand it to Kittle. This is high-level trolling from the four-time Pro Bowler and the fact he backed it up with three touchdowns makes it all the more humiliating for Dallas. You have to wonder if the NFL intervenes and fines Kittle for the shirt's language, but it's not like it was printed on his jersey.
Then again, the league is highly sensitive to uniform infractions. They notoriously lay down the hammer on players who wear "inappropriate" cleats. It's anyone's guess if an undershirt falls on a similar level, but the fact Kittle exposed that word to 49ers fans indicates he might be at risk of a fine.
Of course, Kittle will happily accept any and all fines from the league office. All that mattered to him is that San Francisco humiliated the Cowboys. Not only did he get his wish, but he was instrumental in the 42-10 blowout. The fact Dallas allowed him to unveil the undershirt dumps salt into a gaping wound.
If that wasn't enough, Kittle took a dig at the Cowboys on NBC's postgame show. He credited quarterback Brock Purdy for finding him when he was wide open and mentioned how clean his uniform was despite playing 56 snaps.
Cowboys shade or not (definitely shade), Kittle spoke facts. He was wide open on all three touchdowns. Whether it was Jourdan Lewis, Donovan Wilson or Malik Hooker, nobody in the Dallas secondary had an answer for No. 85.
He hates the Cowboys and backed up his undershirt with a career performance. Dallas can learn a thing or two from him about walking the walk.
Or, you know, they could just stop talking altogether.
