Cowboys Round 7 pick: Kyle Hergel, G, Boston College

Their moves to add Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks were home runs but it does leave Dallas without a pick in Round 5 and 6. Now back on the clock for their first of two selections in Round 7, the Cowboys add guard Kyle Hergel from Boston College.

Hergel is a product of Toronto and began his collegiate career at Texas State before moving to Boston College. He stands 6-foot-2 and 314 pounds, making him a little undersized for the position. However, Dallas is in need of depth there with Asim Richards serving as their only addition in place of Connor McGovern.

While he won't be expected to start, Hergel should provide some much-needed depth on the interior of the line.

Cowboys Round 7 pick: Francisco Mauigoa, LB, Miami

After spending two seasons with Washington State, Francisco Mauigoa is headed to Miami for the 2023 campaign. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 219 pounds, he's thin for a linebacker but he was all over the field in 2022.

In his final season with Washington State, he had 60 tackles, 5.5 for a loss, and 3.5 sacks. For good measure, he added an interception which he ran back 95 yards for a touchdown.

Dallas knows the value of special teams stars and even if Mauigoa never develops into a base defender, he has the speed and tackling ability to stand out on coverage teams.
