Cowboys vs. Seahawks prediction and odds for NFL preseason Week 2

Deuce Vaughn was a delight in preseason Week 1 and with more work in Week 2 the Cowboys offense will be effective even with Cooper Rush and Will Grier at QB.

The Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks both have their sights set on the postseason again after both being dispatched by the 49ers last year. In terms of preseason, so far, the Seahawks have found more success with a 24-13 win over the Vikings last week behind Drew Lock.

The Cowboys fell to Nathan Rourke and the Jaguars 28-23 and neither team played their starting quarterback. Geno Smith and Dak Prescott are firmly entrenched starters, but both have very competent backups and that could make for a fun preseason Week 2 matchup.

Cowboys vs. Seahawks prediction and pick

As far as preseason games go, Cooper Rush against Drew Lock is a pretty solid matchup. Last week Rush went 10/12 for 83 yards, giving way to Will Grier who went 22/31 for 199 yards and two touchdowns with one pick. The Cowboys most impressive player though wasn’t a quarterback, it was Deuce Vaughn, their rookie running back out of Kansas State.

Vaughn will likely get some more carries against the Seahawks and no matter who he’s facing, he’ll be too slippery to tackle. Vaughn ran the ball eight times for 50 yards and a touchdown last week. The Cowboys also have a pretty talented group of young receivers with Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin getting preseason snaps.

The Seahawks have an even more highly drafted back, though Zach Charbonnet was much less efficient, going for 14 yards on four carries. Drew Lock went 17/24 for 191 yards and two touchdowns with just one pick. Lock was an NFL starting quarterback at one point. Despite how much he struggled in that role, that still makes him a valuable preseason commodity.

There seems to be a lot of points being scored this preseason. Both of these teams have old school coaches who aren’t going to simply punt on exhibition games, so I’ll expect a decent amount of work for their competent quarterbacks and some electric runs for Vaughn and maybe something from Charbonnet. That’s enough for me to like the over in this one.
