Cowboys vs Chargers bold predictions: Dallas backup has career night
By Randy Gurzi
When the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3, they came out hyper-focused in Week 4 and defeated the New England Patriots with ease. Now, they're coming off a worse loss to the San Francisco 49ers and look to take it out on the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football.
This won't be an easy one for the Cowboys, especially with Kellen Moore calling plays for the Chargers — and looking to prove he was never the issue in Big D. Still, Dallas has a chance to improve to 4-2 on the season, especially if these five bold predictions come true.
5. Jayron Kearse bounces back
Over the past couple of seasons, Jayron Kearse has been a vocal leader for the Cowboys defense— and he's typically backed it up on the field. That wasn't the case in Week 5 with Kearse struggling throughout the night.
Not only was he having issues in coverage but he was also called for a critical penalty on a third-down play — which was initially a stop for the defense. Kearse was flagged for lining up offside, which gave the 49ers a fresh set of downs as they continued to dominate the game.
After the defeat, Kearse was one of the few Cowboys players who seemed to say the right thing. While some were annoyed about George Kittle wearing a disrespectful t-shirt under his jersey, Kearse said they should have stopped him from scoring if they didn't want to be humiliated.
That attitude is why Kearse will be able to bounce back in Week 6. Look for him to make a couple of splash plays, including forcing a turnover as he reminds everyone why he became a fan-favorite so quickly.
