The Dallas Cowboys just played the San Francisco 49ers, so it's no surprise the injury report is lengthy this week. Perhaps the biggest surprise was seeing Tony Pollard pop up on Thursday's report with a shoulder injury.

The injury might have occurred on Dallas' first play vs the 49ers, when linebacker Dre Greenlaw uncorked a WWE-esque body slam on Pollard. The Pro Bowl running back didn't run the same after that. Given the tackle's violent nature, it's not out of the realm of possibility that that's when he suffered the injury

Regardless of when it happened, the Cowboys need Pollard healthy heading into Monday night's showdown against the LA Chargers. Here's all the latest updates on the 1,000-yard rusher for Week 6.

Tony Pollard's injury status for Cowboys' Week 6 game vs Chargers

Pollard was limited at Thursday's practice and listed as questionable on the initial injury report. That incited some panic among the fanbase, but Pollard got in a full practice Friday and was removed from the injury report altogether by Sunday. Expect the Cowboys to have their Pro Bowl running back for Monday night.

Who would replace Tony Pollard in the starting lineup in Week 6?

Pollard is expected to play, but Rico Dowdle would be the next man up if Pollard aggravated the injury vs the Chargers. Dowdle has been a bright spot in an otherwise underperforming Cowboys offense. In five games, Dowdle has 145 yards from scrimmage (95 rushing, 50 receiving) and a touchdown on 4.8 yards per touch.

Tony Pollard injury history

Pollard has stayed healthy for most of his four-year career. As a rookie in 2019, he sustained a minor knee injury in Week 13 that sidelined him for one game. His next injury didn't come until the 2022 playoffs, when he suffered a fractured fibula and high-ankle sprain against the 49ers. He underwent tight-rope surgery on the ankle.

Pollard did miss the Cowboys' Week 17 game last season with a thigh injury, but that was more precautionary than anything else.
