The Dallas Cowboys ended preseason on a sour note as Trey lance threw five interceptions in Saturday's finale. Despite that, Jerry Jones confirmed that Lance will make the 53-man roster. Most quarterbacks would get cut after that performance, so the decision has not sat well with Cowboys fans.

With the roster deadline at 3 p.m. CT on Tuesday, the fan base might want to brace for more frustrating decisions. Formulating a roster is deeper than picking the 53 best players, however.

The Cowboys must determine which players they are least likely to lose on the waiver wire so they can re-sign them to the practice squad. Injuries also play an important factor, as they may force Dallas to keep an extra player(s) at a specific position(s).

It won't be long until we know the Cowboys' final roster. They can keep up to 17 players on the practice squad. With a flurry of moves on the way, below you can keep track of each cut the Cowboys make before Tuesday's deadline.

Below are the most notable Cowboys' roster cuts:

Cowboys release S Sheldrick Redwine

Signed to a futures contract in January, Redwine suffered a hamstring injury in training camp. Competing in a deep safety room, it's no surprise he was the Cowboys' first cut. Redwine spent last season on the practice squad and was activated for one game.

Cowboys release WR Tyron Billy-Johnson

Billy-Johnson was outstanding in training camp, but it didn't translate to preseason. He caught two passes for 33 yards in the three exhibitions. The Cowboys would like to have Billy-Johnson on the practice squad, but he's a player who could generate interest from other teams.

Cowboys waive LB Willie Harvey

Harvey being among the first wave of cuts comes as a surprise. Multiple Cowboys insiders had Harvey making the team. Perhaps Dallas is confident it can sign Harvey back to the practice squad, but his release opens the door for speculation on whom will be the final linebacker on the 53.

Cowboys release CB Eric Scott Jr., waive Viliami Fehoko

The Cowboys traded up in the sixth-round last year to draft Scott. He wasn't active for a single game as a rookie and had an uneven training camp and preseason this summer. Meanwhile, Fehoko was a fourth-round pick last year. Injuries hampered his rookie year and he never looked like a fit in Mike Zimmer's scheme.

Cowboys release DE Carl Lawson

Cowboys fans won't be happy with this move, but they clearly saw something they didn't like. However, ESPN's Todd Archer mentioned that Lawson could be back on the practice squad since he doesn't have to pass through waivers. Lawson's release could explain Dallas' interest in free agent Tyus Bowser.

Cowboys release OL Josh Ball

Another surprising move. Ball was one of the Cowboys' best offensive lineman in preseason. On 162 snaps across three positions, Ball allowed just two pressures and zero QB hits/sacks, per PFF. We can only hope this doesn't mean that Matt Waletzko, who was a turnstile in preseason, makes the 53-man roster.
