Travis Kelce explains ridiculous reason Cowboys didn't draft him

Travis Kelce might be the greatest tight end of all-time when he retires. He's certainly on that trajectory. Looking back, it's crazy to think Kelce waited until the third round (No. 63 overall) to be drafted back in 2013. For various reason, numerous teams passed on the future Chief. That's inclusive of the Cowboys.

Kelce did have character concerns coming out of the University of Cincinnati. He admitted as much on his "New Heights" podcast with his brother, Jason. Before long, Kelce revealed that the Cowboys passed on him due to the fact he was suspended for the entire 2010 season after testing positive for marijuana.

Kelce said his Combine meeting with Dallas was dead on arrival.

"It ended really fast. I basically just said, 'If you guys think I'm gonna be that kind of guy, or you're questioning if I'm still that person after everything that I've battled through to get to where I am now from missing a season, then you guys (should) probably go somewhere else and pick somebody else.' And that's exactly what they did."

The Cowboys wound up drafting the late Gavin Escobar at No. 47 overall. They were in the market for a tight end and could've taken Kelce. Jerry Jones and Co. just couldn't overlook the "red flags," which is bizarre given how many troubled players the team has drafted over the years.
