The Dallas Cowboys had a high-flying offense and a defense that feasted with turnovers last season that equaled Super Bowl aspirations in Jerry World.

Unfortunately, Dallas flamed out in the first round of the NFC playoffs in a shocking 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers and a largely inactive offseason hasn’t refueled those championship fires in Dallas.

The Cowboys still have quarterback Dak Prescott, who is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, throwing for 4,516 yards and 36 touchdowns on an offense that led the NFL in scoring (29.9 points per game).

Dallas has the 24th overall pick in this month’s NFL Draft. Will the Cowboys use it to help protect their franchise quarterback?

Cowboys expected to add offensive lineman in 1st round

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the offensive line is a large favorite (-175) compared to other positions to be the position Dallas attacks in the first round of the draft.

Dallas is hurting at the position after a brutal free agency where the Cowboys lost multiple pieces of its talented roster and added very few. The Cowboys lost starting Tyron Smith, an eight-time Pro-Bowler who signed with the Jets, and starting Pro-Bowl center Tyler Biadasz, who inked a deal in free agency with division-rival Washington.

Up front, Dallas only retained Chuma Edoga, a versatile backup who started six games last season between tackle and guard. That means Dallas has starters up front to replace and it’s why no other position comes close to the offensive line on the odds board. Rounding out the top-3 is linebacker (+470) and defensive line (+500).

FanDuel has the over/under of offensive linemen drafted in the first round at 9.5 with heavy juice (-194) on the over.

Dallas in the mix in futures market

An underwhelming offseason hasn’t hampered oddsmakers’ expectations for the Cowboys in 2024. Per FanDuel, Dallas is the seventh-favorite to win the Super Bowl next season at +1500 ($100 bet wins $1,500), which carries an implied probability of 6.25% that the Cowboys will hoist the Lombardi Trophy for the first time in nearly three decades.

According to FanDuel, Dallas is the co-favorite with the Philadelphia Eagles at +120 to win the NFC East and are monster favorites (-240) to reach the playoffs.

The Cowboys are one of four teams in the NFC (San Francisco, Philadelphia and Detroit) to have a double-digit win total (over/under) for next season at 10.5.
