Round 5, Pick 173: Tommy Eichenberg, LB, Ohio State

After adding three players who could be starters in the near future on offense, the Cowboys finally turn their attention to the defensive side of the ball. Forced to sit out of Round 4, they return in the fifth round with a projected comp pick which is used on Ohio State linebacker Tommy Eichenberg.

The Buckeye linebacker is the epitome of a throwback player. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, Eichneberg won't impress anyone with sideline-to-sideline speed. He's also not going to be great when it comes to playing in coverage. But when it comes to dissecting the run game and shutting down the opposing team's running back, Eichenberg will shine. He can also bring the heat when unleashed on the blitz.

A former two-time team captain, Eichenberg brings exactly what Dallas needs at the position. They have players who can run and keep up with tight ends or backs in the passing game. What they don't have is someone who will keep the offense from running the ball at will, which is why this Day 3 pick could wind up making a huge difference.

During his time in Columbus. Eichenberg racked up 268 tackles, 21 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, and two interceptions — one of which he returned for a touchdown.
