CeeDee Lamb calls out Jerry Jones as Cowboys contract negotiation reaches fever pitch
By Jason Reed
The Dallas Cowboys have a trio of superstars that need to get paid i and the team has been dragging its feet. With a Super Bowl window that won't last forever, fans are growing increasingly frustrated over Jerry Jones not paying Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons.
It is not just the fact that these contract negotiations have dragged on longer than expected. It is the fact that Jones is showing no urgency whatsoever to get a deal done for any of his top stars. The Cowboys are truly playing with fire and if they are not careful, the entire thing will blow.
There are already signs of frustrations bubbling on the surface as well. Jones was asked about Lamb's contract negotiations specifically on Thursday and the Cowboys owner shared he "has no urgency to get it done". His words, not ours.
Lamb saw this on social media and responded in a way that was just as damning as it was short on characters. Sometimes, three simple letters can hold a lot of weight, as is the case with Lamb's response.
Jerry Jones and the Cowboys need to be careful with CeeDee Lamb
Not only did Lamb take the time to respond to this comment from Jones but Parsons joined in on the fun and reposted Lamb's post as well. Parsons is in a similar situation as Lamb as he too can secure a massive payday from the Cowboys this offseason.
it is more pressing with Lamb than it is with Parsons, though. Dallas has time with Parsons as he is still on the fourth year of his rookie deal with a fifth-year option in 2025. It would be nice to get a deal done as soon as possible, but Dallas has far more time to work out a deal with Parsons than with Lamb.
Lamb would be playing on his fifth-year rookie option in 2024 if all this ends with no contract extension. That is a massive gamble for Lamb as one rolled ankle or one wrong turn on turf could result in him making far less money as a free agency next spring.
If Dallas is not careful we could see Lamb's holdout extend into the regular season. From there, it could have a snowball effect on both Prescott and Parsons. If the Cowboys were unwilling to take care of Lamb, why would the other stars want to stay in Dallas long-term?
This is a true crossroads moment for the Cowboys and how the team handles this situation will dictate how the next half-decade will go. If it were up to Cowboys fans, all three players would already have a deal.
