Coming off back-to-back 12-win seasons, the Cowboys entered the 2023 season with some pretty lofty expectations. Unlike the previous offseason when Dallas unloaded key players like WR Amari Cooper, OL Connor Williams and WR Cedrick Wilson, the offseason of 2023 brought in new high-end weapons like CB Stephon Gilmore and WR Brandin Cooks.

It was a level of effort and investment rarely seen from the Cowboys front office whose maniacal retort to inquiries of outside upgrades was usually “we like our guys.”

With those big moves came big expectations. Not just for the new additions but also for the team as a whole. If the Cowboys were able to achieve 12-wins in a fat-cutting season like 2022, imagine what they could do with a reloaded roster in 2023?

With 17-games in an NFL regular season there’s no clean midpoint to stop and take inventory. But eight weeks is a traditional eye of the storm so today we look at eight players who have failed to live up to expectations thus far this season.

Missing the list is Trevon Diggs, the Cowboys star CB who fell to a season-ending injury in Week 3. While his loss is perhaps the biggest disappointment of the season, it’s not appropriate for a list such as this. We’re looking for players who have disappointed with their performance and/or contributions.

With that said…
