6. DJ Wonnum, DE

One of the things you've always got to look for in NFL Free Agency? Connections between available players and coaches on your staff.

The Cowboys obviously now have Mike Zimmer as their new defensive coordinator for 2024, so looking over the list of Minnesota Vikings unrestricted free agents on the defensive side of the ball is probably a pretty good idea. The Vikings drafted DJ Wonnum while Zimmer was still the head coach there, and he's turned out to be a really solid player, both as a starter and in rotation.

Wonnum had 8.0 sacks this past season to go along with 15 QB hits. With the exodus of players like Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler Jr. off the edge this offseason, a player like DJ Wonnum to come in and rotate with DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons could be a great, underrated move.

7. Kenny Moore, CB

For whatever reason, you can get guys who specialize as nickel/slot cornerbacks for a lot cheaper than guys who play on the outside. The NFL may not realize it, but those slot guys play around 65-75 percent of the team's defensive snaps.

Yet a player like Kenny Moore of the Colts had a 2023 AAV of $8.325 million. He played nearly 1,100 snaps and is constantly all over the field making things happen. Adding a player like this in the slot to replace Jourdan Lewis could be incredible for the Cowboys in free agency.

We saw Dallas go after Stephon Gilmore from the Colts' secondary last year in a trade. Maybe they move forward with Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland on the outside, but add someone like Moore in the nickel moving forward.
