2. Cooper DeJean, DB, Iowa

2023: 42 tackles, 3 Ints, 5 PD, 242 return yards, 1 return TD

DeJean is an elite athlete and uses it to his advantage when in coverage. He has great recovery speed and quick feet to go stride-for-stride with anyone.

DeJean can adjust his recovering tempo with ease so this gives him the ability to guard multiple types of receivers. Often times some defensive backs struggle against versatile wide receivers, but DeJean is a different kind of player. DeJean's frame of 6'1 and 205 gives him this extra set of skills. That aspect of his game is why he is atop most analysts' DB charts.

DeJean prizes himself on being a ball-hawk and disrupting passes as well, intercepting three passes and returning one for a touchdown this past season. DeJean jumps routes with the best of them and Dallas is very familiar with these type of players; take Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland for data. On top of it all, he adds productive return play which led to him leading the BIG-10 in punt return average in 2023.

DeJean's verstitilty matches Zimmer's former safety in Minnesota, Harrison Smith as they both can attack in the same way.
